Fair Chance Employment

Taking the Pledge
June 23, 2021

Compostable co-owners, Monique and Jamie, bonded over their vision for restorative justice in the environmental sphere. So it feels only natural that our company would take the Fair Chance Business Pledge as set forth by the Obama administration. In partnership with Reevolution, we hope to promote fair chance hiring practices, inspire local community action, and serve as a resource of other small businesses looking to follow suit.

The Pledge:
Compostable applauds the growing number of public and private sector organizations nationwide who are taking action to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed, including individuals who have had contact with the criminal justice system. When almost 70 million Americans – nearly one in three adults – have a criminal record, it is important to remove unnecessary barriers that may prevent these individuals from gaining access to employment, training, education and other basic tools required for success in life. We are committed to providing individuals with criminal records, including formerly incarcerated individuals, a fair chance to participate in the American economy.

Compostable is an Equal Opportunity Employer and will provide equitable pathways to employment for all communities. Diversity ensures strong and stable ecosystems. Similarly, our company can only thrive when differences are celebrated. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds to become involved in the community compost movement!
